SWP 2002, AVR 2005, NREX 8749
Title:  SWP 2002, AVR 2005, NREX 8749
Description:  The rare sight of these three engines working together is due to the fact that one of the SWPs engines is broken down. So an AVR (Allegheny Valley Railroad) engine was brought down from Pittsburgh to lend a hand. After doing numerous very complicated railcar switching jobs in Everson, the train finally crosses Jacobs Creek into Scottdale, with an equal amount of engines and cars. After a brief stop in Scottdale, their next destination is Greensburg. SWP and AVR are subsidiaries of Carload Express Inc., which is why they have an identical scheme. Also SWP 2002 was used in the famous "Unstoppable" movie for the locomotive on the excursion train that barely avoided hitting the runaway train.

SWP 2001, 2002, 2003
Title:  SWP 2001, 2002, 2003
Description:  Yes this was a planned meeting of these trains. SWP 2001 and 2003 have come from the direction of Connellsville with a short freight train and were waiting for SWP 2003 to attach to a string of covered hoppers and tank cars on another track. Then SWP 2001 and 2003 pulled up far enough past the switch on the track so that SWP 2001 could pull its train up on the same track, and then back the train into the other one, to form one long one. So at the end of this, SWP 2002 went back to Scottdale with no railroad cars.

coal loading on the Bullskin Branch
Title:  coal loading on the Bullskin Branch
Description:  You see coal trains everywhere but how often do you actually get to see them being loaded? A collaboration of four different railroads team up on this train of SOM (Somerset Railroad Corporation) coal gondolas. A duo of Michigan brand front end loaders was kept busy for about 8 hours filling the train. This line has only recently started being used again to load coal trains. Right now they are doing one train a week/four a month. Im told this train is bound for New York. Back in the 80s was the heyday for this coal yard when the tracks were owned by Conrail and I can still remember the Conrail blues roaming these tracks almost daily. Im taking photos now to make up for the ones I didnt get back then.

NREX 8749 on the Bullskin Branch
Title:  NREX 8749 on the Bullskin Branch
Description:  Part of the fleet of the SWP railroad, this one was brought down the line later on when some more power was needed to pull out about half the train after it was filled. Two W&LE GP35s were behind this. This is a former Illinois Central 9314 GP9 built back in December 1957. Rebuilt to a GP11 at the IC Paducah Shops. A collaboration of four different railroads team up on this train of SOM (Somerset Railroad Corporation) coal gondolas. Right now they are doing one train a week/four a month. The coal was bound for a power plant in New York. CSX 75
Title:  CSX 75
Description:  Quite a rare sight to see six-axle locomotives on the shortline Southwest Pennsylvannia Railroad. This is a train of fully loaded SOM coal gondolas that is shut down/tied down for the night. The other half of the train is still waiting to be loaded at Bullskin Tipple about five miles away. Taken from the Scottdale-Everson Bridge though a chain link fence. It was not an easy thing to do.
