Description:  On the siding behind Napa Auto Parts in Scottdale. Two new SD40-2 arrivals for the SWP Railroad that came in December 2015. 3501 is former NDM 8563 built in November 1971 and later became FURX 3006. SWP 3503 is former UP 3095 built in September 1971 and later became FURX 3013.

Description:  Two SD40-2 helpers have just been added onto the rear of a loaded sand train in back of Buncher Commerce Park. It is my first day seeing these two in action. The little GE 25 ton switcher here sees very little action, and has a tank-like appearance with the windows covered.

Description:  The Southwestern Pennsylvania Railroads pair of SD40-2s shoving a loaded sand train up the grade at Bowest, Dunbar. The sound of them in notch-8 was so thrilling that I was wishing I had taken a video instead of a photo. The sound reverberated for miles even after the train had long passed me.

Description:  SWP 3503 and 3501 heading off into the distance towards Dunbar, PA on a loaded sand train. For the history buffs, the empty bridge on the left of the train was the one for Western Maryland's Bowest Yard and the empty bridge on the right of the train was from a B&O siding track. If things go perfectly, both of those will have tracks again in the future.

Title:  SWP Sand Empties On CSX
Description:  SWP 3503, SWP 3501, CN 2508, CN 2264, NS 8822, and NS 9756 running westbound past the Connellsville CSX Yard on their way back to the SWP Railroad's own rails a few miles away. 3503 and 3501 were the rear helpers when the train was full, and it was easier to put all the power on one end to bring the train back from Smithfield, PA.
