Description:  The third engine on an idling and tied down iron ore train, an SD40-3 rebuild of the Wheeling and Lake Erie Brewster shops, formerly Union Pacific 3016 SD40 built in 1966. Another crew took the train out 12 hours later in the middle of the night, to take it to Baltimore, MD.

Description:  Dual tiger-striped EMD SD40-3s going west with an empty hopper train , approaching the crossing at Fellview Road, Connellsville Township, Pa. Note that only one of the ditch lights is wnrking. WE 3016 is a former Wisconsin Central 3016, Oxford 3016, and Union Pacific 3016 SD40 built in 1966. Acquired by Whceling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in September 2000. WE 4025 is a former Wisconsin Central 4025, Oxford 405, Union Pacific 4025, MoPac 3025, and MoPac 725 SD40 built in February ,968. Acquired by Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in October 1998.

Description:  An empty ore/coke train that arrived overnight via CSX sits at milepost one awaiting a new crew. It would leave about three hours later. WE 3016 is a former Wisconsin Central 3016, Oxford 3016, and Union Pacific 3016 SD40 built in 1966. Acquired by Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in September 2000. WE 4025 is a former Wisconsin Central 4025, Oxford 405, Union Pacific 4025, MoPac 3025, and MoPac 725 SD40 built in February 1968. Acquired by Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in October 1998.

Description:  Leading an empty ore/coke train west over the rusty old Chaintown Bridge, the beginning of the remote Creek Hills area. Since the last time I photographed this engine, it has gotten new number boards but now it has a burnt out ditch light. WE 3016 is a former Wisconsin Central 3016, Oxford 3016, and Union Pacific 3016 SD40 built in 1966. Acquired by Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in September 2000.

WE 3016 is a former Wisconsin Central 3016, Oxford 3016, and Union Pacific 3016 SD40 built in 1966. Acquired by Wheeling and Lake Erie in 1992 and rebuilt by their Brewster Shops in September 2000.
