Description:  The rear power of Rook to Connellsville local train 481. Seen at the interchange with CSX in Connellsville. This GP40-3 has a colorful history, being a former NYC 3044, CR3044, CNW 5532, and UP 652. Built in December 1965. This is one of quite a few paint schemes of the Wheeling and Erie.

Description:  New-age GE power on an eastbound intermodal train passes the old reliable EMD GP40-3 of the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. The stealthy-looking #300 is former NYC 3044, CR 3044, CNW 5532, and UP 652. Built in December 1965.

Description:  Power from what was the K111-09 empty ore train has attached to a loaded coal train at Woods Road crossing Owensdale, Pa. forming a lineup of seven EMD standard cabs. Maybe the most power this rail line here has ever seen. WE 3034 was rebuilt at the W&LE Brewster shops in July 1999 and is former Union Pacific 3034 built in April 1966.

WE 300 is former NYC 3044, CR 3044, CNW 5532, and UP 652. Built in December 1965 as a GP40, it was rebuilt to a GP40-3 by Wheeling and Lake Erie in August 2003.

Description:  Train Z564-06 going east into the Connellsville CSX yard with 16 cars from MarkWest Energy, and two buffer cars. It was very strange to see them running long hood forward. I'm not sure how much the crew likes that.

Description:  A pair of GP40-3 engines are leaving Connellsville with just two buffer cars on the train after dropping off some loaded tanker cars for CSX. The crew was almost out of time and stopped at a road crossing a few miles west of here to get picked up. These trains now seem to be running in daylight hours again.
