CSX 8077 (Colonel Philip Hooper) |
Description: |
This EMD SD40-2 is the only CSX locomotive that is named after any single person. Colonel Philip Hooper was the last commander of the 112th Cavalry Regiment in World War II. The regiment was at Tokyo Bay for the surrender ceremony and then occupied Japan until January 1946 when it was deactivated. More relevant to railroading, Mr. Hooper was a former L&N vice president. This is formerly L&N 8077. |
