Description:  An unusual combination of a SD40-2, GP40-3, and GP38-3 have been used for the local yard jobs in the past week in Connellsville. CSX 2431 spent many years in Cumberland as the R.C.O. switcher. #6529 and #2046 have been around here for a while. These three make quite a sound when working hard together.

Description:  Q352 is tied down on the Wheeling and Lake Erie line where it junctions with the CSX Keystone Sub in Connellsville. It would sit here well past dark. Due to a bad train wreck in Ohio, several CSX trains were forced to detour onto the W&LE railroad in order to get around the accident.

Description:  Autorack train Q276-07 rumbles into Connellsville with a pair of SD40-2s getting it done. This train is so long that it almost always gets cut into two trains in Connellsville because it is too big to take into the mountains. Since the retirement of the GE C40-8s I have pleasantly noticed more SD40-2s being used on CSX trains again.

Description:  Q317-10 going west after getting a train put together in the Connellsville Yard. It is now a rare event when a CSX SD40-2 is leading on a train instead of a GE engine. Under the reign of new CEO E Hunter Harrison, there have been many earth-shaking changes at CSX. This train is one of them. For decades the Q317 and Q316 trains used the Mountain Subdivision from Cumberland to Grafton. Now they get their start and end in Connellsvillle. Other new trains now go through Connellsville as well. Some railroad towns on CSX have not been so fortunate and have seen a decrease in traffic or activity.

Description:  Things sure have been strange on the Keystone Sub lately. Here we have a GP38-2 leaser taking autorack train Q277-19 out of Conenellsville on a rainy day. There were very few locomotives choices available in the yard, and the other two engines on this train are not even facing the correct way to be able to lead. Stranger yet is this was a former NS engine that has only had the logos removed. Originally built as NW 4137 GP38AC (high hood) in June 1971.
