Quemahoning Viaduct (2)
Bridge Number 159. Located in Rockwood, Pa, just off of the Great Allegheny Passage. Built in 1913 by the B&O Railroad to connect the S&C Branch in Rockwood with a seven mile coal branch on the other side of the Casselman River. The Quemahoning Branch ran right alongside the Western Maryland Railway and control of the branch was actually given to them in 1950 when the B&O considered the line to be redundant. This bridge and line continued to be used in the CSX era up to about 1990 or so, when the last coal mine on the branch finally went out of business.
