New Boston Rail Service GP9U has found itself on the CSX Q353-19 train. Built as ATSF 712 in 1956. Thanks for everyone's help in trying to figure this one out.

Chuck Zeiler General I'm no expert, but it looks like a Topeka cab to me. 7/19/2014 10:55:08 PM
Curt Beal General Thanks for your comment. I was leaning that direction too. 7/19/2014 11:01:41 PM
Rick Morgan General Number and details consistant with ATSF GP9U 2292 (21582), which was assigned BNSF 1677, but not sure it ever wore that number. 7/22/2014 6:47:37 AM
Curt Beal General Thanks for your insight. Did you mean a GP7U? The Dieseelshop website says the 2200's were GP7's. 7/22/2014 6:52:57 AM
Fred Stuckmann General Great catch. 7/22/2014 7:43:37 AM
Kent Held General Nice shot Curt. That is a GP9u not a GP7u. The last ATSF GP7u was numbered 2243 and 2244-2299 were GP9Us so you caught a GP9u. Wish it was still in ATSF colors though. 7/22/2014 12:54:27 PM
frederick king General Winchester Western uses these types of engines in Winchester Va and the scheme is actually compatable with one of the ones they use. Just a thought 7/22/2014 3:38:57 PM
Curt Beal General Thanks for the thought and idea. I have looked it up and see that the WW does use some GP9's. But their pinstripes are yellow and the design on the front should slant upwards instead of down in a V. 7/22/2014 4:44:07 PM
