Description:  One of the newer acquisitions of the Allegheny Valley Railroad that has eluded me until now. Here it was going west with some speed on Track 1 past the Amtrak platform. The freight train was for the busy SWP Railroad. This rebuilt EMD GP40-3 is former CBQ 183 GP40 built in December 1966 and later became BN 3013 GP40, NHL 3013 GP40, KCS 4742 GP40/GP40-3.

Description:  Z687-22 is restarting west on Track 41 after dropping off some paperwork at the CSX VI tower in Connellsville. The five cars on the train are empty and will be uncoupled on the west end of the yard. Then the engines ran light back to Scottdale.

Description:  A pair of former KCS GP40-3's are reunited on this short train of empty sand cars stopped in front of VI Tower in the Connellsville CSX Yard to drop off paperwork. Official train number is Z687-22 since it is using CSX rails. VI tower is one of the few yard towers still active in Pennsylvania.

Description:  Z687-20 going west under the Sodem signal bridge in the last sunlight of the day. This train is using CSX trackage and is running freight for the SWP railroad. AVR is owned by the same company as SWP and often times their engine power is interchanfeable, such as here.

Description:  Empty sand train passing a small farm near the Route 31 crossing in Tarrs, PA. There are chickens at this farm that perk up when they hear a train horn, and go to the side of the tracks to wait for the train to appear. It must be a routine for them by now, and was amusing to see.
