Taken using zoom. I was not actually that close. I heard about this being around the tri-state area. Little did I know, I'd actually get to photograph it. Seen on a coal train in Connellsville. Delivered as to CSX as a GE ES44DC in April 2007. After a few months, CSX gave it the name "Spirit of Cincinnati" to pay tribute to the city's importance in the history of the railroad and its predecessors. It is now downrated to 4,000 horsepower to save fuel and engine wear. |

This ES40DC came in on a Q261-01 autorack train and was using Track 4 for headroom in the Connellsville Yard about a mile back from here. Q261 trains usually become a Q277 train that goes west of Connellsville. But today it did not, and I got tired of waiting. This was the only photo I could get. Seen from a recently cleared cut for a natural gas pipeline. It is good for a roster shot and that is about all. |
