WE 4003, 7377, and 6314 |
Description: |
An SD40-3 still bearing the grime of the last winter leads two SD40-2s on an empty hopper train, seen here at the Narrows Hill Road crossing just North of Connellsville, Pa. Spring in 2010 seemed to have taken hold much sooner than Spring 2011. WE 4003 was originally built as Missouri Pacific 703 SD40 in March 1967. (This photo is a re-master of a previous upload) |

Description: |
The Connellsville CSX yard is looking more like the W&LE Rook Yard, with the full ore train K110&27 passing the empty ore train K110-26. The empty has come back from Sparrows Point, Md, and the full one is headed there, eventually. Note that there is a crew in the second engine as well as the first one. I thought that was rather odd. |

WE 7377 detail shot (2) |
Description: |
One of the Wheeling and Lake Eries "Blues Brothers", on loaded coke train K302-17. Built as MP 3198 in March 1975. Also former GATX 7377 and GSCX 7377. The dark blue patch on the nose is from when it had GATX on the front. The steel mill that these coke trains were being sent to was owned by RG Steel and the company has filed for bankruptcy in 2012, so the coke and ore trains are now a thing of the past. |
