Description:  A locomotive that has racked up some railroads and miles over the years. Built in Setpember 1966 as SP 8840 SD45. Later it became UP 2795, CEFX 2795, and CITX 2795. Somewhere during that time it was rebuilt to a SD40M-2. This was one of 17 locomotives in the Connellsville CSX yard that I counted today.

Description:  Back in the area for another visit. This time I get it up close. The second engine on autotrack train Q216-14. Built in September 1966 as SP 8840 SD45. Later it became UP 2795, CEFX 2795, and CITX 2795. This is now an SD40M-2. Though this locomotive looks nice it sounded like crap.

Description:  Eastbound autorack train Q216-14 using Track 2 Main for headroom at Greene Junction in South Connellsville, Pa. The EMD SD70ACe and SD40M-2 was like a double treat. I kept my fingers crossed that the sun would stay out long enough for this photo. Most of the time it was cloudy, windy, and raining on and off. Ten minutes later it was raining again. Update: #4850 was retired in 2017, and sold to Progress Rail.

It would eventually come to a stop to get helpers added to the back. CEFX 3129 is former SP 8869/7455 built in March 1967. It was an SD45 but is now an SD40M-2. HLCX 7073 is former BNSF/BN 7073 built in July 1978.

Description:  Q299-10 going west in Broadford on a beautiful but cold winter day. The thermometer said 20 degrees but I think the sun was fooling it by about 5 degrees. These locomotives came to Connellsville this same day and were taken off Q368 for some reason and put onto this train to go the other way. Autorack train Q299 is an as-needed train to Louisville. CEFX 3138 is former SP 7487 SD45R and built as SP 9070 SD45 in March 1969.

Description:  The leader on Q353, EMD SD40-2, built as L&N 1236 SD40 in April 1970. Sadly this locomotive was involved in a fatal accident on 9/8/2011 near Botkins, Ohio. Conductor Dennis Hemme, 59 of Cincinnati Ohio was killed after being pinned between this locomotive and an iron ore train.

Description:  Q388-25 has a refreshing change from all the new GE power running around on CSX. Seen going eastbound at West Yough. It was not going very fast because it had a crew change coming up about a mile away. 8312 was built as LN 1236 SD40 in April 1970. Later became SB 1236 SD40. Rebuilt into an SD40-2 by M-K for CSX.
